5th graders will be learning 4 units of science, each beginning and ending with the quarter. Each heading links to a student friendly website.
Ecosystem In Ecosystems, we make replicas of a natural ecosystem community. You can watch life grow from its beginning all the way to the end. As you watch this, you will be fascinated by life itself. The students will be able to marvel at life and have fun doing it. They will watch different types of plants like Duckweed, Rye Grass, Alfalfa, Mustard Grass, and Elodea as well as different animals like Snails, Crickets, Plants, Guppies, and Pill bugs grow, live, and possibly die. They will be taught how to live correctly with nature and how to take care of it. Dependence and Interdependence among the living specimens within the eco-column are the main focus. It will be a wonderful experience for everyone!
Ecosystems are made out of plastic 2 liter bottles. They have 3 sections made up of a connecting piece , a terrarium, and an aquarium. Naturally, they have the duckweed, elodea, snails and guppies in the aquarium. The grasses, crickets, and pill bugs are in the terrarium.
